Liverpool Nautical Research Society

The Society was founded in 1938 to promote an interest in Maritime History and maintains a close link with the Merseyside Maritime Museum. Active Members produce papers, articles and books and assistance is readily provioded to private researchers and public institutions within the Society's objectives and remit.  The Society performs a worthwhile task in recording historical aspects of maritime history particularly relating to Merseyside and the northwest region. Whilst the majority of Members reside in the north west, a substantial number live either elsewhere in the UK or abroad in Aiustralia, Canada, Sweden and the USA. T here is no specific qualification for membership - purely an interest in maritime topics.

Each year there are nine meetings involving presentations by Members or guest speakers. These are held on the third Thursday of each month (September to May inclusive)  in the Maritime Museum. Members also enjoy  the benefit of almost exclusive use of the Archives and Library on most Mondays throughout the year.
