Liverpool Astronomical Societyemail: See web site
We have monthly meetings from September through until May, when guest speakers are invited to talk on their particular field in astronomy or related topic. We also have a members’ night when any member can address the society in the same fashion. All of these meetings take place on the third Friday of the month (except December which is the second Friday) in the restaurant room of the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, Mount Pleasant, opposite Liverpool University. Car parking is secure and within the cathedral building. Meetings start at 7:00pm and usually last until about 9:30pm. A list of those remaining for this current session are detailed below.
There are also weekly ‘observatory’ meetings held at the Society’s ‘Leighton Observatory’, Pex Hill Visitor Centre, Cronton. These are on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm, and continue all the year round. You may attend three monthly meetings as a visitor before deciding whether to become a member of the Society.
We have a wide spectrum of members from beginners to experts, who would be only too happy to help or advise you with any queries or problems you may have in the pursuit of our subject. If you would like an information pack about the society, including maps and a copy of this letter, please send an A4 s.a.e. to the above address. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to enjoy the study of astronomy among friends.
